Spokane County Superior Court Judge Greg Sypolt, who issued a no-contact order between convicted Deer Park murderer Clay Starbuck and his three minor children until they become legal adults, upheld his ruling last week.
Sypolt made the original ruling on July 18 when he sentenced Starbuck to life in prison without parole for the Dec. 11 murder of his ex-wife, Chanin, in her Deer Park home.
Starbuck’s attorneys claim that the defendant subjected his children to no psychological or physical harm while he was a parent, according to KREM-TV.
Prosecutors countered that Starbuck violated parental trust and indirectly involved his children in the crime.
Sypolt ruled that his order would stay in place for the next 36 months.
Starbuck’s five children (two of them are adults) attended Friday’s hearing.
