A memorial service will held at 3 p.m. on Feb. 3 at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, N115 Raymond Road, for former Deer Park resident George R. “Dick” Ott, 69, who passed away on Jan. 29, 2012, in Spokane.
Born in Pasco and raised in Deer Park, he graduated from Deer Park High School in 1960 and later attended Spokane Community College. He spent four years in the US Army.
Possessing a lifelong love of agriculture, he spent his entire career selling fertilizer for Inland Farmers (19 years) and later for Greenacres Gypsum (20-plus years).
Mr. Ott had a passion for ham radios that later evolved into a love of computers. He also enjoyed doing genealogy.
He was active with the Spokane Interstate Fair and AgExpo. Dick was the president of University SCOPE office.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Nettie Ott; and a son, Floyd A. Howell.
He is survived by one son, Lewis Howell; two daughters, Cheryl (Ed) Collins and Charlene (Jim) Guttromson; two brothers, Gene (Jo), Sydney and Art (Tammy) Ott; one sister, Janet Herndon; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hennessey Valley Funeral Home and Crematory will be in charge of arrangements.
