The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office, having investigated numerous reports since March involving the killing and injuring of domestic animals by a pack of dogs in Southern Stevens County, reported that three of the animals have been killed.
A hunter killed one of the dogs on May 28 after he was charged by a pack of dogs while turkey hunting and two other dogs were subsequently killed on June 11-12 by a landowner whose animals had been previously attacked and killed.
Based upon the latest information the Sheriff’s Office believes the main pack has been eliminated.
Undersheriiff LaVonne Webb said the department has received conflicting information as to the number of animals that may have been running in the pack, however the three that were killed are consistent with the surveillance photographs obtained over the past month.
