Lois Jo Brown, 76

Lois Jo Brown of Springdale died on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, with her family around her. She was 76.
Lois was born on July 23, 1938, in Odessa, Wash., to Rheinhold and Josie Lesser. She attended the Ford School and then went to Springdale High School.
Lois was married to Tony Brown for 57 years and together they had five children. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Leo E. Stacey, 91

August 8, 2014

Leo Earl Stacey, 91 years of life, passed peacefully into his final rest on July 31, 2014, at his home in Spokane County. He was born to Alice and Robert Stacey on May 2, 1923, in Sac City, Iowa.
Leo was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Margaret; his parents; a twin brother, Cleo; and two sisters, Verna and Alliene.
Leo was a decorated World War II soldier who saw battle action throughout Europe, including Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes Forest and Germany. He received four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart during his three-year tour on the front lines.

Charles Riblet

It is with great sorrow to have lost a piece of our hearts. On July 28, Charles Riblet received his angel wings.
Charles served his country as a Marine. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He was a retired Seattle firefighter, an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to so many. He will be deeply missed.
He was an off-road enthusiast who loved his Polaris RZR. He also loved NASCAR races, football, and fantasy football. But his No. 1 love was his wife and family.

Sandy R. Faella, 64

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. on Aug. 23 at the Deer Park Happy Home Church, 5039 Hattery-Owens Road, for longtime area resident Sandy R. Faella, 64, who passed away on July 14, 2014.
Born on Sept. 19, 1949, she lived in the Deer Park area for the past 31 years. She was a member of the Happy Home Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry.

Opal T. Olsen, 87

August 8, 2014

Opal T. Olsen, 87 years of life and a resident of Clayton, passed away on Aug. 1, 2014.
Mrs. Olsen is the dear mother and mother-in-law of Rick and Debbie Olsen of Clayton, Russell and Denise Olsen of Spokane, Becky and Phil Hines of Longview, Wash., and Robynn and Larry Ross of Nine Mile Falls. She is the sister of Ruth Rasmussen, Viola Greer and Bill Sims and enjoyed 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Olsen is preceded in death by her husband, Neb Olsen; a son, Bob Olsen; a daughter, Karen Layton; and a grandson, Jeff Layton.

Esther P. May, 83

August 4, 2014

Esther Pearl May, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2014, at Spokane Hospice House North.
She was born to George and Mary May on Aug. 2, 1930, at their home in Ada County, Idaho.
She is survived by her five children, Esther Stephenson, Debra Watkins, Kathleen Walker, Clifford Stoddart and Teresa Stoddart; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and five siblings.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at the Pine Crest Manor Community Hall, E204 “D” St. in Deer Park. A private family graveside service will follow at Peone Cemetery.

Don J. Sappington, 81

July 29, 2014

Don Joe Sappington, age 81, born on March 28, 1933, in Texarkana, Texas, entered into rest on July 20, 2014, in Spokane Valley. Don was a resident of Loon Lake for 12 years.
He graduated from high school in Great Falls, Mont., in 1952. Don served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict earning the National Defense Service Ribbon.
Don worked on aircrafts in Texas doing fiberglass lay-up bonding and air tunnel testing. He also worked as a sawyer at a lumber company in Idaho.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and building and flying model aircrafts.

Fay Reilly, 83

Fay Reilly, 83 years of life, was born on Jan. 13, 1931, in Spokane to John Frank Reilly and Barbara Cox Reilly. His first school was Glenora south of Spokane.
In the second grade, the family moved to Williams Valley west of Deer Park where he attended Williams Valley School until consolidation. Fay then attended Clayton School for two years and graduated from Deer Park High School with the Class of 1948.

Lester W. May, 79

Lester William May, 79 years of life, passed away on July 4, 2014, at his home in Chattaroy.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1935, in Leavenworth, Wash. As a young boy his family moved to Spokane and then to the Chattaroy area where he attended the Mt. Kit Carson School and the Riverside schools.
During his high school days he met his wife, Louise (Mitzi) Rhoads. They were married on Jan. 22, 1954, and celebrated 60 years of marriage this past January.
He retired from Kaiser Mead after 32 years as a machinist.

Arnim R. Olsen, 53

June 11, 2014

Arnim Roland "Ole" Olsen, 53, passed away at his home on May 30 after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Olsen; two sisters, Monika Olsen, and Sonja Rey; and a niece, Roseanna Rey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elfi and Wesley Olsen. "Ole," as he was known by friends, loved fishing, the great outdoors and working the family farm.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.

Alfred L. Griffin, 82

June 11, 2014

Alfred Leroy Griffin, 82, SFC, United States Army (ret.) and a longtime resident of Deer Park passed away on June 7, 2014.
Al and his wife, Luitgard, owned and operated Griffin’s Furniture and Al’s Restaurant on U.S. Highway near Riverside High School for many years.
He was an avid bowler.
Memorial services will be held in Deer Park at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church, S.214 Weber Road, with the Rev. Steven Brehmer officiating.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, will be in charge of arrangements.
