Deer Park joined the club over the weekend. The prices of a gallon of gas, $3.9925 on Saturday, jumped to $4.0075 on Sunday and to $4.0225 on Monday. The average price for diesel in Deer Park was $4.80 on Monday.
The Deer Park jump coincided with U.S. gasoline prices, which rose to an average of $4.005 this week. The price of a gallon of gasoline nationwide was $3.119 a year ago. The statewide average hovers around the $4.15-a-gallon mark. Areas in California continue to register the highest per gallon price in the Continental United States at $4.41, while Wichita, Kan., had the lowest price at $3.65. Last week’s increase was spurred by a surge in futures trading that pegged a barrel of oil at a record $140 before falling back to $137.80 on June 9. |
