Police continuing Springale area shooting investigation
Saturday, 10 May 2008

An autopsy is planned for this week to help determine the cause of death following a shooting at the 4700 block of State Highway 231 near Springdale.

The Stevens County 911 Center received a telephone call at 11:10 a.m. on Saturday about a shooting at the residence.

Stevens County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the location and assisted in providing care until emergency medical personnel arrived.  The 43-year-old male victim died at the scene as a result of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears to be an accidental shooting although the investigation remains ongoing at this time.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
