Construction of the actual Bi-Mart store could begin within the next couple of weeks.

Currently, crews have been doing ground excavation on the 3.5-acre site on south Main Street, but Director of Community Services Roger Krieger said the necessary building plan changes have been made and building permits could be ready as early as this week.

Krieger said company officials are looking at a seven-week construction schedule for the 35,000-square-foot store, which is expected to hire around 40 people.

In addition to the store construction, the company will refurbish a portion of West D Street that borders the property.
