Funeral services were March 7 at the Tri-County Christian Center in Deer Park, with Army Chaplain John Barnes officiating, for longtime Deer Park resident Virgil E. “Red” Greer, 91, who died on Feb. 28.
Born in Oakesdale, Wash., in 1917, he attended school there and served in the Army during World War II. He saw combat action iin Africa, Europe and the South Pacific. After his discharge in 1945, he worked at Deer Park Pine Industries until it closed in 1971. He later worked at Potlatch Forestries in Coeur d’Alene until his retirement. He attended the Tri-County Christian Center/Assemblies of God Church in Deer Park and was active in the Deer Park Senior Center. His wife, Trula L., died in April 1992. A daughter, Trula Ann Anderson, also predeceased him. He is survived by one child, Larry (and Lillian) Bowan of Spokane; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment followed the services at Woodland Cemetery, Deer Park, with Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, in charge of arrangements. |
