Funeral services will be 1 p.m. March 1 at the Deer Park Open Door Congregational Church for Loon Lake resident Eldon A Herigstad, 69, who died on Feb. 25 in Palm Desert, Calif.

Born July 12, 1938, to the late Lewis and Sarah Herisgstad in New Norway, Alberta, he moved with his family to Ferndale, Wash., and later to Deer Park. After graduating from Deer Park High School, he served in the Navy from 1956-58.

Mr. Herigstad managed the URM egg ranch in Deer Park for 12 years until 1970. He was co-owner of Spokane Valley Poultry from 1970-2000 and also managed industrial property in the Spokane Valley.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling and sports.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Geraldine “George” (Floch) Herigstad; two daughters, LeAnn of Woodland, Calif., and Lisa of Seattle; two brothers, Arvid Herigstad of Bloomington, Minn., and Larry Herigstad of Federal Way, Wash.; two grandsons, Sven A. Salyard and Jonathan Hayes; and one nephew, Mitchell Hergistad of Sioux City, Iowa.

Interment will follow the services at Woodland Cemetery, Deer Park, with Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, in charge of arrangements.

The family requests memorials be made to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, P.O. Box 19023, Seattle WA 98109-1023.
