A memorial service was Feb. 16 at the Chewelah Civic Center for former Springdale/Valley resident Tammy L. Carr, 39, who died on Feb. 5 in Chewelah.

Born Jan. 12, 1969, to Jerry and Bertha (Farnsworth) Carr in Chewelah, she grew up in the Valley/Springdale area and in 1987 graduated from Mary Walker High School, where she played volleyball, basketball and softball.

She worked at a credit union and in construction for a couple of years before being employed by the city of Chewelah.

She enjoyed fishing and searching for huckleberries and mushrooms.

She is survived by one son, Aaron Pettigrew of Chewelah; one daughter, Ashley Pettigrew of Chewelah; her mother, Bertha Matteson of Northport; her father, Jerry Carr of Valley; two brothers, Clayton Farnsworth of Chewelah and David Carr of Valley; and one grandson, Tyler Pettigrew of Chewelah.

Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Chewelah was in charge of arrangements.
