Funeral servives were Jan. 18 at Knox Presbyterian Church in Spokane, for former Deer Park resident Ellen L. Funseth, 88, who died on Jan. 1.
Born April 2, 1918, to Edwin and Gertrude Lewis in Deer Park, she later moved to Spokane with her mother and graduated from North Central High School. She attended the University of Washington, where she majored in library science. She married Anders E. Funseth in August 1945. Mrs. Funseth worked as a bookroom clerk at Shaw Junior High School in Spokane, later in the Whitlock’s Pharmacy office and as an executive secretary at the Spokane Daily Chronicle. After her retirement, she worked in fund raising for the Spokane Symphony and the endowment office at Whitworth College.She helped create the women’s auxiliary of the Union Gospel Mission and helped establish the Gospel Mission’s Anna Odgen Hall for Women. She was an elder, superintendent and Sunday School teacher at Knox Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Funseth was a president of the Board of Presbyterian Ministries. She was a guardian of Job’s Daughters Bethel No. 64 and a worthy matron of Loyalty Chapter No. 210 of Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading and classical music. Her husband died in 1974. She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Sebring; and two grandchildren. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, Spokane, was in charge of arrangements. |
