City street paving to begin on Aug. 24
Spokane Rock Products crews will begin work on the five streets earmarked for the city’s street preservation program later this month and are expected to be completed by late September. Director of Community Services Roger Krieger said prep work for portions for Third, Fifth and Sixth streets and Washington and Stevens avenues will begin on Aug. 24 with the grinding of the roadways set for the following week. The street preservation project was funded by a surplus in the city’s general fund this year. The on-going project will be funded in the future by an increase in the utility excise tax (6 to 12 percent).
