Frank Podlas Jr., 78
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. June 29 at the Country Church of the Open Bible in Elk, with the Rev. Bob Smith officiating, for lifelong Elk resident Frank Podlas Jr., 78, who died on June 23.

Born in 1929 in Elk, he attended area schools and was a lifelong award-winning dairy farmer and beef rancher. He married his wife, Joyce, in 1951.

Mr. Podlas was an Elk Volunteer Fire Department member for more than 30 years, serving for a time as chief. He was also a member of  the Fertile Valley Grange.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and tending to his land and cattle.

Interment will follow the services at Elk Cemetery No. 1 with Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, in charge of arrangements.
