Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 46-year-old Deer Park man on Aug. 25 after he tried to ditch a baggie of methamphetamine during his arrest on a misdemeanor warrant and for driving on a suspended license. Deputy Rob Brooks was in the area of Division and Hastings Road when he spotted a van driving through a convenience store parking lot. The vehicle was missing a window, had a wooden bumper and had defective lighting. Brooks ran a registration check and learned that the owner, Darryl F. Flambouras, had a suspended driver’s license and also had an outstanding civil bench warrant.
He contacted Flambouras, who had parked in a handicapped parking space and entered the store. Confronted with the information regarding the warrant, the suspect admitted his identity and then turned and attempted to flick away a small baggie of methamphetamine. The bag fell at his feet. Brooks arrested Flambouras for the warrant, for third-degree driving while license suspended and for possession of methamphetamine, a felony. He also issued him an infraction for the handicapped parking violation and for failure to provide proof of insurance. |
