Strong fourth quarter ends Ram losing streak

January 9, 2013

Riverside's Dallas Shuler provides defensive pressure on Kettle Falls' Nick Reppert during first half action on Tuesday.

The Riverside Rams finally enjoyed a little “home cookin’” on Tuesday.
The Rams, who had not played a home game in three weeks, used a strong fourth quarter to get past the Kettle Falls Bulldogs 49-41. The win, the first in five Northeast A League games, snapped the Rams’ seven-game losing streak.
Riverside, which built a 19-point lead (28-9) with 6 minutes left in the third quarter, watched as the Bulldogs staged a relentless rally in the game’s final 14 minutes.
Kettle Falls made a large dent into the Riverside lead in the final minute of the third quarter on three-point field goals by Conner McKern and Nathan Disque sandwiched between a field goal by Nick Reppert.
The Rams, which saw their lead trimmed to 32-25 entering the fourth quarter, got some breathing room thanks to Andrew Kramer, who tossed in a field goal and a pair of free throws.
Kramer scored 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter.
His traditional three point play with 3:54 remaining extended the Riverside lead to 41-34.
Kettle Falls answered with a long-range three pointer from Disque to cut the lead to 41-37 but the Bulldogs could not get any closer as the Rams iced the game at the foul line.
Riverside hit 10 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter as the Rams improved their overall record to 3-9.
Disque and McKern combined for 33 points to lead Kettle Falls.
