November 9, 2011

The Stags won their Great Northern League championship this season

The Ellensburg Bulldogs will visit Deer Park to open the state Class 2A football playoffs at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (8-3), the fifth seed from District 5/6/7, defeated the Great Northern League’s Cheney Blackhawks 36-35 in overtime on Tuesday.
Ellensburg used the quarterbacking duo of Garrett Hull and Matt Bennett against the Blackhawks. Tailback J. Foley, who rushed for 79 yards against Cheney, handled most of the ground game duties.
For the Stags (9-1) it will be their first state playoff game at home since they hosted Cashmere in 2000.
