Stag playoff fate to be determined Thursday

November 2, 2011

The Deer Park football team’s playoff future will be determined on Thursday at West Valley.
The Stags, who finished their Great Northern League season two weeks ago with a 4-1 record, finish their season with a non-league game at Medical Lake 7 p.m. on Thursday. They, however, must wait to see who wins the Cheney-West Valley match-up on Thursday to see who they will play in the opening round of the playoffs.
If Cheney (4-1) wins, the Blackhawks will be awarded the GNL’s No. 1 seed and play on Nov. 11 or 12 at home. Deer Park will be the second seed and play at home on Nov. 8. The Eagles will be the third seed and play on Nov. 8 at the road.
If West Valley (4-1) wins, the Stags get the GNL’s top seed (they beat the Eagles earlier this season) and a Nov. 11 or 12 home playoff game. The Eagles will get the home playoff game on Nov. 8 and Cheney will be GNL’s third seed with the Nov. 8 road playoff game.
All the GNL playoff opponents will come from the Central Washington Athletic Conference. The exact playoff match-ups will not be determined until this weekend.
