Sister Marian E. Jones, 95

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sept. 3 at St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church, Deer Park, with the Rev. Albert Grasher officiating, for longtime Deer Park resident Sister Marian E. Jones, 95, who passed away on Aug. 28, in Spokane.
Her sister, Harriet Dawson, resides in Port Angeles, Wash.
Born to Mark and Ruth Jones at Bakersfield, Calif., in 1916 she attended Washington State College in Pullman and then Holy Names College in Spokane. She joined the Dominican Sisters and resided at the convent in Kettle Falls, and later was an instructor in Fine Arts at Marylhurst College in Portland, Ore.
She worked at the Deer Park Tribune and in the printing and graphic art department of the EXPO 74 World's Fair in Spokane.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Presentation Church and Altar Society, the Fat Quarters Quilters, and was an avid calligrapher.
Interment followed the mass in Holy Redeemer/Kelly Cemetery, Deer Park.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, was in charge of arrangements.
