Sheriff's Department investigating Chattaroy fatal car accident

April 16, 2012

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate a one-car fatal accident on Dennison-Chattaroy Road on Friday night.
Deputy Dan Dutton had arrived on scene at around 11 p.m., prior to traffic investigators, and saw an adult male driver inside the vehicle. Medics arrived with Dutton and pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.
Evidence showed the vehicle was traveling westbound on Dennison-Chattaroy Road. The vehicle crossed eastbound lanes of traffic, left the roadway and struck a tree head-on.
Traffic investigator, Corporal Jeff Welton, said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and that alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the collision.
The name of the victim will be released pending notification of next of kin.
