Sgt. Charles Henry

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22 at the Springdale Community Church, for former Springdale resident Marine Corps Sgt. Charles Henry, 27, who passed away on Oct. 13 in Jacksonville, N.C.
Born on Nov. 20, 1984, in Enid, Okla., to Fredrick and Linda Henry, he graduated from Mary Walker High, where he met his wrestling coach and mentor, Kyle Dodge. It was in high school where he met his wife-to-be, Heaven Spiry. They were married on Dec. 11, 2004, at the Springdale Community Church by the Rev. Sonny Clemmer.
After graduating the School of Infantry, Camp Pendelton, Calif., he was assigned to his first unit 3rd Battalion 7th Marines India Company aboard MCAGCC Twentynine Palms, Calif. where he completed two tours in Iraq as a basic rifleman. He re-enlisted in 2007.
Charles then went on to complete a tour aboard MWTC in Bridgeport, CA as a mountain warfare instructor. He switched to fire and rescue and completed training at the DOD Fire Academy on Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas. After graduation he was assigned to MWSS 272 aboard MCAS New River in Jacksonville, NC and then completed a tour to Afghanistan leaving the United States on March 13 and returning home on Sept. 19.
Mr. Henry enjoyed shooting, skiing, skateboarding, and climbing.
He is survived by his wife, Heaven, at home; two sons, Samuel and Elijah; his father, Fred; his mother in-law, Sandra; five sisters, LaVonna, Misty, Katrina, Jewell and Emmy; two nephews; eight aunts; five uncles and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Linda; and three uncles, David, Harold and John.
Burial will follow the service at the Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park with Heritage Funeral Home, Spokane, in charge of arrangements.
