Samuel M. Castro, 83

Samuel Marcelino Castro, a longtime resident of Springdale, slept away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at the age of 83.
He was born on April 26, 1930, to Joseph and Mary (Harmes) Castro in Gardner, Colo. As a young boy, Samuel had a love for horses in which he enjoyed riding them and tending to them with great care. As he grew older, Samuel took to gardening and would spend hours in the garden caring for it and growing the best vegetables around.
He was also a people person and had a way of getting along with every one. Samuel also very easy going and this is why he could make friend with about anyone he talked to. You could say that Samuel was a very social person that liked to tell stories with his friends.
Samuel was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Castro and Clemet Castro, and sisters, Ofelia Valdez and Cordelia Madina.
He has survived by his brothers, Zackarias Castro of Springdale and Manuel Castro of Beulah, Colo.; his sisters, Alice Salazar of Spokane and Anna Cordova and her husband, Trinidad Cordoza of Spokane.
A graveside service for Samuel Castro was held on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at the Springdale Cemetery.
