Rams prepare for showdown with Cardinals

September 26, 2013

Riverside's Jacob Collins leads the Ram ground game this fall.

The Riverside Rams and Medical Lake Cardinals, both 1-0 after the first week of Northeast A League play, will meet 7 p.m. Friday at RHS.
The Rams used a strong defensive effort in the second half to get by the Kettle Bulldogs 27-21 last week. The Cardinals used an offensive explosion in the second half to past Newport 35-20 on Sept. 20.
Jacob Collins rushed for 150 yards in the win against KF. It was his second straight 100-plus yard effort on the ground.
The Cardinals also feature a workhorse in the backfield. Fullback Jackson Tappero accounted for 202 total yards against Newport.
The Cardinal defense were also able to limit the effectiveness of Grizzly quarterback Ryan Rapp. The signal-caller accounted for 238 yards passing, although a large chunk of them cam on two long scoring tosses.
Ram quarterback Sam Zanoni is coming off a two-touchdown game against the Bulldogs.
Medical Lake defeated Riverside 42-6 last season.
