Rams hope to get back to winning ways

October 11, 2013

Ram fullback Ryan Cotner has been a workhorse this fall.

The Riverside Rams hope to get back on the winning track when they entertain Newport 7 p.m. Friday in the annual homecoming game.
The Rams (2-1 in the Northeast A League and 3-2 overall) are coming off a 34-0 loss to Freeman while the Grizzles (0-2, 3-2) outlasted the Lake City junior varsity squad 49-33 on Oct. 4.
Keying the Grizzly attack is quarterback Ryan Rapp, who threw for 297 yards in the win over Lake City. The senior signal-callers favorite target is senior wide receiver Jeron Konkright, who gained 101 yards receiving yards in the game, and Chris Burgess, who added eight passes for195 yards in the non-league game.
The Rams’ main weapons are the running/passing threat of quarterback Sam Zanoni and tailback Jacob Collins.
The Grizzlies, coached for former Deer Park assistant Zac Farnam, defeated the Rams 31-21 last year.
