Myrna R. Walters, 80

A graveside funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the Woodland Cemetery, Deer Park, with the Rev. Richard Finch officiating, for longtime Denison area resident Myrna R. Walters, 80, who passed away on Dec. 3.
A reception will follow the service at the Deer Park Eagles Lodge, W12 South Ave.
Born in Onaway, Idaho, the family moved to Spokane when she was a child. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1949 and later from beauty school.
She worked as beautician at the Bon Marche and Bungalow Beauty Salon. One of her fondest memories was styling Minnie Pearl’s hair while she worked at the Bon.
Mrs. Walters later worked at Phillip’s Department Store and Deer Park Lanes.
An avid canner of fruits and vegetables, she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and embroidery. She was known to play many bingo cards at once.
She was a former member of the Deer Park Eagles Lodge.
Her husband of 55 years, Herman, predeceased her in 2009.
She is survived by three children, Dianne (Jeff) Hollifield of Hiram, Ga., Nancy (Dave) Miller of Chattaroy and Steve (Renee) Walters of Deer Park; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, will be in charge of arrangements.
