McMorris Rodgers's Congressional seat may get smaller

Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ district may get a little smaller, according to the latest proposal submitted by the Washington Redistricting Commission on Dec. 28.
The commission is charged with carving up the state into 10 Congressional districts, one more district than the last redistricting effort 10 years ago.
To make room for the new district, which will sit mostly in Thurston and Pierce counties under the latest plan, the other districts underwent geographical reconfigurations to ensure each one had approximately 672,450 residents.
Under the plan, McMorris Rodgers would lose a small portion of the western part of the 5th District that encompasses the eastern portion of the state.
The commission is under a Jan. 1 deadline to approve a Congressional redistricting plan.
