Margaret L. Barnett, 93

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. on March 13 at the Wild Rose Prairie Cemetery, with the Rev. Gene Gentry officiating, for longtime Denison area resident Margaret L. Barnett, 93, who passed away on March 7, 2012.
Born on Nov. 17, 1918, to the late Guy and Frances Underwood at Port Orchard, Wash., her family moved to the Okanogan area when she was a child. She graduated from Okanogan High School in 1936. She served as Okanogan’s royal representative to the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival in 1936.
She married Dennis Barnett on Oct. 3, 1940. The couple lived in the Seattle area before moving to Edmonds, Wash. In 1975, they moved to the Deer Park area.
Mrs. Barnett enjoyed camping, hiking and fishing with her family.
She was a longtime member of the Wild Rose Homemakers’ Club and was known for her pies and homemade jam.
Her husband, Dennis; a son, William; and two sisters, all predeceased her.
She is survived by two children, Thomas (Carol) Barnett and Susan (Kurt) Nansel; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, is in charge of arrangements.
