Lynn Holcomb, 68

Lynn Holcomb, longtime Deer Park resident, has died at the age of 68.
He was born on Nov. 2, 1944 in Spokane to Elmer and Isabelle Holcomb, who farmed north of Deer Park. The family moved briefly to California before returning to live in Clayton. There, Lynn attended grade school.
He attended Deer Park High School before enlisting in the United States Army. He served from 1968 to 1974, including one tour in Germany and two in Vietnam. He served a further six years in the National Guard.
Lynn worked briefly in the mines at Wallace, Idaho, and in a veneer plant at Ford.
He is survived by his brother, Lyle, of Loon Lake and nieces, Jackie Hankins and Bonny Gay, both of Spokane.
Lynn was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a regular attendee at the Open Door Congregational United Church of Christ.
For the last few months of Lynn’s life he was a resident at the Veterans’ Home in Spokane. It was there he died early in the morning of Monday, April 29, 2013.
A brief gathering of remembrance is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, in the fellowship Hall of the Open Door Church, Deer Park. All are welcome.
