Lester Mize, 82

Lester “Jean” Mize peacefully passed away on Dec. 20 2012, at Royal Park Care Center at the age of 82. He was born in Moscow, Idaho, on Oct. 27 1930.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester C. and Marie Mize, and a granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Whitehill.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris; and children, Steve Mize of Spokane, Ron (Mary Beth) Mize of California, Sandy (Greg) Whitehill of Deer Park and Bonnie Weir of Connell, Wash.; grandchildren Alena Giusto of Boring, Ore., Crystal (Zack) Kuno of Colber, Amanda (Ryan) Reiter of Deer Park, Travis Whitehill of Spokane, Scott Weir and Jeff Weir both of Connell, Wash., Steven (Rachel) Whitehill of Seattle and Josh Jacquot of Oregon; great-grandchildren , Taylor Giusto and Devin Stone, both of Boring, Ore., Skyler, Gracie and Talon Anderson and Alexa Kuno, all of Colbert, Miley and Dakota Reiter, both of Deer Park, and Cn’e, Isaiah, Kai, Koa and Jax Whitehill, all of Seattle; his Sister Janie (Lloyd) Blackwell of Spokane; a brother and Jim (Dorothy) Mize of Post Falls, Idaho; and many cousins, nieces and nephews
Les served 10 years in the Navel Reserves and spent 30 years at the Kaiser Aluminum Mead plant working in the pot rooms, as crane operator and as a security guard. He also spent several years at Whitworth Collage as a security guard.
In Deer Park he spent time as an auxiliary sheriff, was a hunter education instructor, and for many years he was a dedicated 4-H leader in which he introduced gun safety as a program project.
He was a member of Whitworth Presbyterian Community Church and The Prairie Riders Club.
His favorite thing was to be with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, flying airplanes, riding horses, wood-working and was always up for a good joke.
We will be having celebration of life after the holidays.
