The Riverside High School softball team clinched the upcoming District VII tournamentâ€™s second seed with a 6-3 win over the Medical Lake Cardinals on Saturday in the final game of the regular season.
Having lost the lost the first game of the doubleheader 6-4, Saturdayâ€™s second game set up a showdown where the winner would earn the second seed and a first round bye in the district tournament.
The Lady Rams (14-4) struck first with a pair of runs in the second inning, highlighted by RBI from Kyra Phillips and Kendra Aronson.
A home run by Julie Rasmussen the following inning increased the lead to 3-0.
The Cardinals (12-6) trimmed to lead to 6-3 in the sixth inning on a two-run homer by Jordan Soliday but Riverside hurler Keelin Hunt shut down the Medical Lake offense the rest of the way.
