The East Valley Knights scored three runs in the first inning and Gage Burland did the rest in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday.
Staked to an early 3-0 lead, Burland limited the Stags to only four hits (all singles) while striking out 10 in a makeup game from an early season rainout.
The Knights added three more runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth as they dropped the Stagsâ€™ Great Northern League record to 0-5.
Taylor Watkins provided most of the offensive firepower for the Knights with a pair of doubles.
Phillip Smith started for the Stags and was charged with six of the eight runs.
