April 5, 2012

Philip Smith as the Stags' starting pitcher in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday.

The East Valley Knights scored three runs in the first inning and Gage Burland did the rest in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday.
Staked to an early 3-0 lead, Burland limited the Stags to only four hits (all singles) while striking out 10 in a makeup game from an early season rainout.
The Knights added three more runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth as they dropped the Stags’ Great Northern League record to 0-5.
Taylor Watkins provided most of the offensive firepower for the Knights with a pair of doubles.
Phillip Smith started for the Stags and was charged with six of the eight runs.
