John T. Dunham, 95

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 1 at the First Evangelical Free Church, 4920 Assembly St., Spokane, followed by a reception at the church for former Loon Lake resident John T. Dunham, 95, who passed away on Sept. 18.
Born on Dec. 5, 1915, at Loon Lake, as the seventh of nine children to Ted and Janey Dunham, he attended a one-room schoolhouse for four years on Garden Spot Road. After working on the family farm and hauling cordwood, he moved to Cheney in 1936 and was employed at Cheney Weeder until the fall of 1938 when he moved to Seattle.
He married Juanita Robertson in 1940 in Spokane whom he met when both worked at Cheney Weeder. When World War II broke out, Mr. Dunham worked in the shipyards in Bremerton, Seattle and San Francisco.
After the war he started his own construction business primarily in Spokane and was in business for 38 years having built many custom homes, commercial, and industrial buildings. He built his own home on Crown Street where he and his family have lived since 1954.
Mr. Dunham enjoyed huckleberry picking at Priest Lake, elk and bird hunting. He was a 60-year member of North Hill Masonic Lodge, No. 210, F. & A.M. in Spokane.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, in 2001, seven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by two children, Harvey A. Dunham, and Stephen J. (Debbie) Dunham; one brother, Elmer Dunham; two grandchildren, Melissa and Matthew; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Interment will follow the services at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane with Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Union Gospel Mission in Spokane.
