John E. Yingst, 92

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. on May 21 at Wild Rose Prairie United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Betty Smith officiating and the Scottish Rite Rose Croix Funeral Team participating, for lifelong Wild Rose Prairie resident John E. Yingst, 92, who passed away on May 14.
Born in 1920 on Wild Rose Prairie, he graduated from Deer Park High School in 1938. He served as a U.S. Army radioman during World War II in the Aleutian Island and the Philippines.
After his discharge, he worked for years at Deer Park Pine Industries.
Mr. Yingst was a member of the Wild Rose Prairie United Methodist Church, Wild Rose Prairie Fire Department, AOUW, and Valley of Spokane Scottish Rite.
He was a 50-year member of the Williams Valley Grange.
He was a 60-plus-year member and past master of Deer Park Masonic Lodge No. 134 F&AM. He was also a past grand master deputy for District 30 and past worthy patron of Bethlehem Chapter 87 Order of Eastern Star.
He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5924 in Elk, the National Rifle Association and the Inland Empire Travelers Camping Club.
Mr. Yingst was a former member of the El Katif Shrine.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte L. (Meschke) Yingst at the Wild Rose Prairie home; three sons, David (Debra), Robert (Valerie) and George (Somnook) Yingst, all of Deer Park; one sister, Verna Yingst Wagner of Spokane; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Full military honors interment will follow the service at Wild Rose Prairie Cemetery with U.S. Army and Washington Army National Guard in charge of the flag presentation. The Mount Boyer Masonic Lodge No. 134 burial rites team participated in the interment ceremony.
A reception for family and friends will be held after the interment at the Mount Boyer Masonic Lodge on north Main Street in Deer Park.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, will be in charge of funeral service arrangements.
