Joe H. Malek, 75

June 21, 2011

The Good Lord took our most loving and caring husband, father and grandpa, Joseph H. “Papa Joe” Malek on June 15 after a very short battle with cancer.
Joe was born in South Dakota on Feb. 9, 1936 to Lucy and Max Malek. Joe graduated from Deer Park High School in 1955 and attended Eastern Washington University.
He married Margie (Tobeck) in 1955 and they enjoyed 54 years together.
After college, he was in broadcasting and was program director for Columbia Basin Community College in Pasco, Wash. He also owned and operated many businesses.
Joe loved his home on Loon Lake and wintered in Yuma, Ariz. He also liked taking care of the birds and his 1940 Ford pickup.
Joe is survived by his wife, Margie; one son, Joseph and his wife, Debbie; three daughters, Teri and Paul Strutz, Shayne Malek and Misty and Bob Wallace; a sister, Eva Roberts; and 11 very special grandchildren and three great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Trenton; a granddaughter, Danyelle; and a daughter, Shannon.
Don’t think of him as gone away, his journey has just begun. Think of him as resting from his sorrows and pain. Some day when our work is done, he will call us home to meet again, for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved a lot.
His life will be celebrated by rosary on Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church in Deer Park. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25.
