Joe Begovich, 84

A memorial service will held at 10 a.m. on March 17 at Thornhill Valley Funeral Chapel for former Elk resident Joe “Crazy Joe” Begovich, 84, who passed away on March 13, 2012.
Born on Sept. 24, 1927, in Rock Springs, Wy., to Marko and Evanka Begovich, the family moved to Elk when he was 6 years old. He attended school at Elk Grade School and Riverside High School. He joined the Navy after high school for two years of active duty and continued as a Naval Reservist for another 18 years.
Mr. Begovich was employed as a truck driver for P.I.E for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores Begovich; one daughter, Judi (Bill) Degnan; one son Marco (Renee) Begovich; five grandchildren: and two great-grandchildren.
