Irene Mary Wohrle was born on Feb. 18, 1923, to Mary Elizabeth and Thomas Triplett in Turner, Blaine County, Mont. Surrounded by her family, she went to her Heavenly home on Dec. 10, 2012.
When Irene was a child, she lived in Montana, Colorado, and Washington State, settling in Spokane before moving to Deer Park around 1935.
She graduated from Riverside High School with the class of 1941 and married Howard J. Wohrle on December 13, 1941. They enjoyed 63 years together. Irene continued to live in the home she and Howard built 70 years ago on part of the former Arcadia Apple Orchard.
Irene was a loving mother and mother-in-law to Keith and Karen Wohrle of Deer Park; Greg and Julie Wohrle of Eagle River, Alaska; Gail Roberts and Diana and Joel Evenson of Walla Walla, Wash. She delighted in her 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Howard, and her son-in-law, Abe Roberts.
Irene's hobbies allowed her to develop many artistic talents, including cake decorating, oil painting, and designing and building structures on their property. She was a charter member and past president of the Tri-County Association of the Arts; participated in the Wild Rose Homemakers; a former 50-year member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church, and a current member of the Grace Church of Deer Park.
Irene loved to travel with Howard and friends in their RV to the Washington seaside beaches. Summers were spent entertaining at their Deer Lake cabin. Her faith and integrity in the Lord guided Irene throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Irene was held in Deer Park on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at the Grace Church at S.522 Colville Ave. A private family interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane.
Irene's family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Union Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 4066, Spokane, WA 99220-4066.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, will be in charge of arrangements.
