The Colville Indians, sparked by a pair of Tasha Luu baskets, finally pulled away from the Riverside Lady Rams 50-38 in Northeast A League basketball action on Friday.
The Lady Rams, who cut the Indians’ lead to 42-36 on a Courtney Davis basket with 5 minutes to play, saw Colville close out the game with an 8-2 run, sparked by Luu’s performance.
The win improved Colville’s NE-A record to 6-1 (11-5 overall), while Riverside fell to 1-6, 6-11.
The Lady Rams, who trailed 21-15 at halftime, came out strong in the third quarter, Keyed by a basket by Marissa Pace and two field goals from Days, the Lady Rams tied the game at 25-25 with 5 minutes to play in the third quarter.
The Indians responded with two free throws from Erin Little and a basket by Ashley Knight to reclaim a 29-25 lead. A Hannah Holm basket trimmed the Colville lead to 30-28, only to see the Colville squad score the final four points of the quarter.
The Indians stretched their lead to nine points, 41-32, only to see the Lady Rams make one final push before Luu took over in the finals 2 minutes.
Davis led all scorers with 21 points, while Knight paced the Indians with 13 points.
