Griggs named new Riverside football coach

May 19, 2012

Riverside High School officials have announced the hiring of Tom Griggs as the school’s new head football coach.
Griggs comes to Riverside from Rochester High School where he served as head coach for the past season.
A prep athlete at Montesano High School, Griggs, an offensive lineman, earned all-state honors. After two successful years of football at Washington State University, where the Cougars played in the (Sun and Rose bowls), a back injury ended his college career.
Griggs began his high school coaching at Pullman High School where he was the offensive and defensive line coach from 2003-05. From Pullman he moved on to Mountain View High School in Vancouver as defensive line coach 2005-06, then to River Ridge High School where he was defensive coordinator and assistant head coach from 2006-11.
Griggs will be a member of the Riverside social studies department. He and his wife, Sammy Jo, have two daughters, Tatem, 3, and year-old Lorraine.
