GreenHouse starts annual Tree of Sharing campaign

November 28, 2012

GreenHouse Community Center volunteers have begun accepting families for the annual Christmas Tree of Sharing.
Director Susan Peterson said Greenhouse volunteers hope to have all gifts distributed from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. between Dec. 19-22.
Christmas food will be distributed when clients collect their monthly food baskets at the food bank, W206 First St., Suite A. Clients with children will also receive an appointment time to visit the GreenHouse’s Tree of Sharing outlet at N211 Fir St. at this time.
Appointments for children’s gifts can also be made by visiting the food bank. People making appointments will have priority over walk-ins.
The GreenHouse will also provide telephone numbers for Toys for Tots and the Christmas Bureau in Spokane. Residents who use these outlets must provide photo identification for everyone over the age of 18 in the household, proof of residence and proof of each child living in the home. Walk-ins will not be served.
Peterson asks that families who have signed up at an area church or community organization for food or toys, are asked not sign up at the GreenHouse, to help ensure there will be enough toys and food baskets to meet the community demand.
To try and meet the increasing toy demand, the GreenHouse has set up Trees of Sharing and collection barrels at Medicine Shoppe, Bi-Mart, Yoke’s Fresh Market, Real Estate Marketplace, Ace Hardware and the Deer Park Tribune office.
