Everett W. Williams, 82

August 16, 2011

No services are planned for former area resident Everett E. Williams, 82, who passed away on Aug. 9 in Spokane.
Born on Nov. 21, 1928, to the late Edward and Minnie (Wallace) Williams in Darlington, Idaho, he moved often growing up and therefore attended many schools, but graduated from Deer Park High School in 1947. After high school he joined the Air Force, where he also took college classes.
He later became the manager of Sprouse Reitz stores in the Hillyard and Garland locations before moving to Colville to manage the Sprouse Reitz there.
In 1978, he and his wife, Marilyn, bought the Fonk’s 5¢-$1.00 Store and changed the name to Fonk’s Pet & Variety. For 20 years they owned the store and worked side-by-side with many wonderful employees (including their three daughters). They had pets and supplies, yard goods, sewing notions, craft stationary and many other items and services. They became well known for their popcorn, caramel corn and other goodies in the front of the store.
The Williams were also well recognized as Colville sweethearts, driving their big yellow Plymouth, sitting side by side wherever they went. They proudly built their home they lovingly shared for 39 years.
At home, Mr. Williams loved to garden and build.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Corwin, Ethan and Irwin.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marilyn Williams; three daughters, Lori (Jim) Murray of Monroe, Wash., Linda (Don) Anderson of Colville and Arlene (Bud) Bradeen of Kettle Falls, WA; two sisters, Joan “Williams” Easley of Loon Lake and Mary Williams of Spokane; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Colville is entrusted with arrangements.
An online memorial and guestbook is available at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com.
