Etta M. Clarkson, 92

June 26, 2012

It is with profound love that we celebrate the life and mourn the loss of our mother, Etta Marie Clarkson. Surrounded by her dedicated and loving family, she was welcomed by the lord on June 22, 2012.
Etta was born on Sept. 30, 1919, in Harper, Kansas to John and Ida Phye. She later married James Clarkson on Sept. 24, 1942, in Anthony, Kansas. Shortly after, they filled their home with the birth of their three children, Ralph, Richard, and Jana.
One of Etta’s greatest joys in life was to cook for and nurture her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always had an abundance of tender hugs and warm food to give.
She strongly valued the love and support of family, and always instilled those values in those that she cared for. Etta also found happiness in Atlanta Braves baseball, word searches, and country music.
It is of great sadness to say goodbye, and Etta will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. However, we find great comfort in knowing she was reunited with her loved ones in heaven.
She spent her final years at Royal Park Care Center, where she quickly stole the hearts of the wonderful caregivers there. Our greatest gratitude goes to them for being so kind, caring, and dedicated during this time.
She is survived by her three children, Ralph, Richard, and Jana; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service and interment were at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the Deer Park United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made in Etta’s name to the Spokane Humane Society, a cause dear to her heart.
