Esther E. Luce, 95

Esther Luce passed away peacefully on May 7, 2014, at the age of 95.
She was born on Dec 5, 1918, to Mary and Charles Wright in Lapwai, Idaho. Esther was the second of five children; Jessie, Esther, Calvin, Janie and Francis. Francis Hawk is her only remaining sibling.
She was preceded in death also by her parents; her husband, Isaac; her son, Larry Luce; and one grandson, Brad Yochum.
Esther married Isaac Luce in Port Orchard, Wash., on Oct 3, 1938, in the United Brethren Church. They lived in various places; on the coast, in the Lewiston area, Headquarters area, Bates Ore., and Myrtle Idaho. They lived in Lenore, Idaho, in their retirement years. They loved their home on the banks of the Clearwater River.
Esther and Isaac had two children, Viola (Greg) Yochum and Larry Luce. They had seven grandchildren, Teresa (Brad) Sausser, Cathy (Jeff) Stone, Susan (Mark) Tayler, Mike (Susie) Yochum, Ed (Paulette) Yochum, Brad (Kim) Yochum and Dave (Sara) Yochum as well as 20 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-granchildren with two on the way.
She was a dedicated homemaker. She liked to sew, garden, camp, fish, snow ski and golf and later became a real Gonzaga womens basketball fan. She really enjoyed hiking and berry picking in the mountains. She was very hospitable in making family comfortable and cooking delicious home cooked meals.
In their later years, Esther and Isaac moved to the Deer Park area to be near their daughter and for medical services.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church at 602 E. Sixth St. on May 17 at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Deer Park.
