Elmer Roy Johnson, 79, a longtime resident of Milan/Chattaroy, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013.
He is the dear father and father-in-law of Jomn and Theresa Johnson of Nine Mile Falls, Marci Johnson and Curtis Jacobsen of Hamilton, Mont., and Lorna Johnson and Doug Barnes of Curlew, Wash. His sisters are Karen (Richard) Doty of Spokane Valley and Elaine Van Horne of Newman Lake. He enjoyed 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
Roy’s dear wife, Janice Arlene Johnson, passed away in 2005.
Born in 1933 at Fort Collins, Colo., Elmer graduated from Riverside High School with the Class of 1951 and served with the U.S. Coast Guard, seeing combat action in Korea during the Korean Conflict.
He was a bus drive with Greyhound Bus Lines for 28 years, retiring in 1986.
He loved hunting and fishing.
Roy was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Hillyard, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3564 in Deer Park and a life member of the National Rifle Association Graveside services honoring Mr. Johnson will be at the Milan Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2013.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, will be in charge of arrangements.
