A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of persons involved in a theft of a medical marijuana dispensary in Elk.
Employees at JD’s Garden at N39817 Newport Highway determined the burglary took place sometime late on March 2 or early on March 3. More than 20 ounces of marijuana, two custom marijuana pipes and 38 THC infused chocolate bars were stolen.
Later on March 3, Deputy Mike Beckman responded to Riverside High School on a drug possession call. A juvenile male student reported to school administration he was given a chocolate bar by another male juvenile student. After he ate it, he said the other student told him the chocolate bar was laced with marijuana.
The student was taken to the hospital by his mother and it was confirmed he had THC in his system. The male who provided the chocolate bar was immediately expelled from school.
The investigation is ongoing and arrests for the burglary are expected in the near future. Deputies are also looking into possible charges for the student providing the THC laced chocolate bar.
