Elk accident sends three to the hospital

August 7, 2011

A 32-year-old Elk man faces possible vehicular assault charges following a two-car accident on Elk-Milan Road on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, Tony Blake of Elk was traveling northbound on Milan-Elk Rd when he crossed over the centerline with his 1978 GMC pickup truck and struck a 2005 Mazda MP driven by Crystal Stokes, 69.
Stokes suffered a fractured pelvis, clavicle, and rib. She was flown from the scene by MedStar to a Spokane hospital. Her passenger, Edward Stokes, 65, sustained a fractured back and internal injuries. Both Stokes are in satisfactory condition.
Blake suffered knee and facial injuries. He too was transported to a Spokane hospital for treatment.
A deputy met Blake at the hospital where he was placed under arrest for vehicular assault. A blood sample was taken from Blake and will be sent to the Washington State Toxicology Laboratory for analysis. The sheriff’s department should receive the results in about six weeks.
Both vehicles were seized as evidence and traffic investigators continue to look into the accident.
