Three people were injured in a one-car accident on March 1 at Elk-Chattaroy and Tallman roads.
According to Spokane County Sheriff’s Department collision investigator Deputy J. Thurman, the vehicle was traveling west on Elk-Chattaroy Road when it drove onto the shoulder of the roadway. The driver was not able to negotiate the vehicle back onto the road and struck a large tree head-on.
The family of four was not wearing their seatbelts which contributed to their injuries, he said.
Two helicopters were required to transport an adult female and juvenile female to a local medical facility. A juvenile male was transported by ambulance to a local medical facility. The three injured passengers were listed in serious condition.
Investigators believe alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
