DPMS's Hodgson wins state archery championship

Deer Park Middle Schooler Brent Hodgson accepted his first place trophy at the Washington National Archery competition at Central Washington Univer sity.

Deer Park Middle School seventh grader Brent Hodgson placed first in the male middle school division at the recent Washington National Archery in the Schools’ state championship in Ellensburg.
The 24-member DPMS archery squad took third while eighth grader Natasha Root placed ninth in the female middle school division.
On March 22, DPMS sent a team of 24 sixth, seventh and eighth grade students to compete. Students qualified through a “mini tournament” held in the health and fitness classes and only the top 12 boys and girls made the team.
The team included Keith Araya, Isaac Berglund, Caden Boswell, Tyler Bowlen-Shauls, Jazmin Brookshire, Nicole Brookshire, JoLee Bunch, Emily Camp, Chevy Cram, Tawnee Dean, Tytan Duncan, Oliveah Erickson, Brent Hodgson, Chloe Howland, Parker Kughler, Shari Libby, Libby Michael, Mikal Palmer, Sarah Powell, Natasha Root, Chase Sanchez, Weston Simonson, Hunter Story and Amanda Williams.
