DPMS locked down after suspicious individuals spotted nearby

Deer Park Middle School was shut down for a short time on Thursday afternoon.
The lockdown was predicated after that two individuals were walking near the school carrying rifles. It was called off after Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies contacted the individuals and transported them out of the area.
On the school district website, Superintendent Becky Berg praised the DPMS staff and students for their actions during the lockdown.
