Dorothy M. Hite, 79

A graveside funeral service was held on Feb. 13 at the Springdale Community Cemetery, with Rev. Sonny Clemmer officiating, for longtime Springdale resident Dorothy M. Hite, 79, who passed away on Feb. 8, 2012.
Born in 1932 at Streeter, N.D., to the late Jake and Edna Meyer, she grew up in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and then moved to Spokane where she met her husband, Dan, at the Busch Motorcycle Club. They were married on Aug. 29, 1959.
The couple lived in Spokane for 15 years and then moved to Springdale, where they owned and operated the POW WOW Tavern for many years. Mrs. Hite was also a cook for many years at the Little Chief's Casino at Ford.
She loved to sew, crochet and spend time with her family. She and her husband loved to ride motorcycles together.
Mrs. Hite is preceded in death by a son, Jerry Glen Hite; two brothers, Billie and Tony Meyer; a sister, Nancy Meyer; and a grandson, Truth Flett.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dan Hite; four children, Toni (Larry) Flett of Ford and Bobby Hite, Mike Hite, and Mark (Kim) Hite, all of Spokane; a sister-in-law, Eileen Meyer of New Mexico; eight grandchildren: seven great-grandchildren: and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park was in charge of arrangements.
