Dorothy J. Cunningham, 80

An ash committal service will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash., for Dorothy J. Cunningham, 80, who passed away on Aug. 25 at her Springdale home.
Born on Dec. 4, 1930, in Tonasket, Wash., to Merton Joseph and Mamie Pearl (Cooksey) Attwood, she attended school in Tonasket. On June 25, 1948, she married Gerald “Jerry” A. Cunningham. The couple lived in Okanogan, Wash., before moving to Renton in 1957 where she began work at the Boeing Aircraft Co. as an administrative assistant.
Mrs. Cunningham retired in the early 1980s and with her husband, began traveling the United States and abroad. After sharing several years as snowbirds they settled in Apache Junction, Ariz., then relocated to Gold Canyon, Ariz.
In 2005, they moved to Springdale to be near their daughter.
Mrs. Cunningham was an avid reader who loved to dance, collect recipes, cook, travel and garden.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, in 2009.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Cunningham of Springdale; two sons, Patrick (Maria) Cunningham of Maldonado, Mexico, and Mark (Carla) Cunningham of Fife, Wash.; one brother, Raymond Attwood of Tonasket; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Chewelah is entrusted with her arrangements.
The family requests memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society or the Susan B. Komen For The Cure Foundation.
