Dog pack strikes again in Clayton

A herd of sheep on a farm on McDougal Road were the latest domestic animals attacked by pack of wild dogs last week.
The animals, owned by Eric and Debbie Keller of Deer Park, were being housed at Jim and Doreen Carlson’s (Mrs. Keller’s parents) ranch. The dogs killed four sheep and wounded 13 others.
The sheep, the 4-H projects of the Keller’s four children, were taken to the Carlson ranch on May 30 and were attacked the following night.
Keller said her parents’ dog barked that night but nothing out of the ordinary.
Debbie Keller said in addition to dealing with the immediate aftermath of the attack, the incident will be a setback to her children’s work at next year’s Junior Livestock Show since lambs for that event must be bred in the coming month.
Jim Carlson had hoped to catch the dogs the following night but since the sheep were back at the Keller’s Deer Park home, there was nothing to attract the dogs back to the Clayton farm.
The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in identifying the owner(s) of the dogs involved in any of the attacks. Anyone with information regarding the location of these dogs and their owner(s) should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 509-684-2555 or 1-800-572-0947.
